VETERANS HISTORY PROJECT: “Healing Through Story” is a 3-part special event on Saturday May 26 in Ojai —and the US launch of the national program.
Featuring:
- VET STORIES spoken out loud with READINGS from books and memoirs – 3 – 4 p.m. at Ojai Library
- VET STORIES recorded and preserved through WRITING – 4 – 5:30 p.m. at Ojai Playhouse (movie theater)
- VET STORIES communicated through ART – 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at The Village Jester
“Healing Through Story” was created to thank and honor US Veterans – from all branches of the Armed Forces – in a memorable and dignified manner by giving them outlets and tools to share their personal stories through spoken words, writing and art.
These literary and artistic treasures can then be given as gifts to Vets own family members and to American History, with written works housed in a permanent collection at The Library of Congress.
The public is invited to attend all events. Admission is FREE.

Mission:
To give Vets’ tools and opportunities to tell their stories in their own words and own unique way (vs. someone attempting to piece together their military story after they are gone.) | To honor Vets who have served our nation during times of War and of Peace. | To have Vets’ personal written stories immortalized in a permanent collection in The Library of Congress. | To provide kits for individuals, groups and organizations to replicate this Vet-honoring event in communities across the nation. |
